Drowning Sorrows- June 12th-27th 2009

A Mystery/Drama Written By: Douglas Post - Directed by: Bob DeMarco - Assistant Director: Kathleen Harner - Produced by: Clarissa Thurman

A unique play. A young woman is jilted at the altar by her true love, without explanation. He just disappeared. She becomes obsessed with finding him and the reason he left her. After 20 years, she believes she has tracked him down. He is running a bar on a tiny Caribbean island. When confronted, he denies it. Her new husband, desperate to give her some closure so they can move on with their lives, offers him a bribe to pretend to be her long lost love. Is he or isn't he, the man she has been searching for? The plot twists and turns right to the ambiguous conclusion. It is a wonderful story about choices, regrets, letting go of the past and moving on . . . and also love.

Synopsis: The biblical story of Job is transferred to the Long Island mansion of a successful God fearing tycoon, his wife, a prodigal son, a pair of kooky twins, and a faithful maid and butler. Joe Benjamin lives a successful life, until one night he receives a visit from a messenger from God, Sydney Lipton, who informs Joe he is God’s Favorite, and all he needs to do is renounce God. He uses all manners of temptations to persuade Joe and each time he refuses, Joe is met with every affliction imaginable.
