THE VILLAGE PLAYERS OF HATBORO PRESENTS THE DRAMATIC COMEDY THAT CAPTIVATED THE WORLD: ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO’S NEST BY DALE WASSERMAN

Philadelphia, PA (February 11, 2017) – The Village Players of Hatboro presents the third show in its knockout 70th season run, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, the dramatic comedy by Dale Wasserman based on the 1962 novel by Ken Kesey. It is directed by Ashley Lora-Lee, assisted by Kevin Christian, and runs at the Village Players of Hatboro at 401 Jefferson Avenue, Hatboro, PA, from March 10 – March 25, 2017. Tickets are on sale now.

Randle P. McMurphy is a charismatic gambler and reprobate who contrives to serve a short sentence in an airy state mental institution rather than doing hard labor in a prison. This is ultimately his undoing as he clashes with a fierce and immovable opponent in the person of Nurse Ratched, the head nurse on the ward in which he is committed. One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest is, at its core, a story of the conflict between the individual and the establishment, between autonomy and authority.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest is a tale that is as riotous and laugh-out-loud as it is sobering and moving, a humbling look at mental institutions of the 1960s and the treatment of patients that fell outside of the norm in society.

Dale Wasserman (November 2, 1914 – December 21, 2008) wrote for theater, television, and film for over 50 years and is best known for the Tony Award-winning musical Man of La Mancha.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest is directed by Ashley Lora-Lee, assisted by Kevin Christian and produced by Richard Lutz. Performing the role of McMurphy is Nick Teti. The cast includes Maia Baird as Nurse Ratched, Jim Palmer as Bromden, Mike Jenks as Harding, Matt Dalton as Billy, Eric Schaefer as Scanlon, Glen Karpowich as Cheswick, Frank Mazzella as Martini, Mark Brown as Dr. Spivey, Jessica Mousley as Nurse Flinn, Tom McFarland as Ruckly, Tim Schumann as Aide Warren, R.O. Scott as Aide Williams, Jess Heller as Candy, Sonia Ouro as Sandy, and Steve Niles as Aide Turkle.
