SYNOPSIS

Comedy. It’s 1948, it’s the dead of winter, and it’s time for “Loving Lives,” a radio soap opera on its last legs. A pompous romantic lead, an incapacitated announcer, an obnoxious kazoo-tooting child star and multiple off-the-air seductions all contribute to the hilarious demise of the radio show.

CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS 

All roles are open to actors of all ethnicities, races, and backgrounds. We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive cast.

John Cleary (Male, 50s to 70s) | The resident announcer who prides himself on his appearance but suffers from an unfortunate physical incapacitation.

Mac Hooper (Male, 20s to 40s) | An older, hands-on crew member who knows exactly what he’s doing and tries to hold the show (and the building) together.

Abigail Shipley (Female, 20s to 30s) | The daughter of a VIP who eagerly wants to assist with the theatrical production.

Walter Steed (Male, 20s to 30s) | An actor on the show who thinks highly of himself and assumes he is the star of the production.

Jack Hooper (Male, 20s to 40s) | The sound engineer for the show, who is dealing with cheap sound equipment and a semi-toxic relationship.

Rosie Pearl (Female, 20s to 40s) | An actress on the show who is in a complicated relationship with Jack Hopper.

Bibsy Sullivan (Female, 20s to 40s) | A woman desperately in need of a job and a properly fitting shoe.

Blanche Kennedy (Female, 30s to 50s) | Big name actress for Loving Lives who has this show at the bottom of her priority list.

Donna (Female, 30s to 50s) | Dancer hired for their non-existent live studio audience.

Trixie (Female, 30s to 50s) | Donna’s friend who is also a dancer.

Dennis Killian (Male, any) | Loving Lives scriptwriter.

Philip Shipley (Male, teenager) | Arrogant child who plays the kazoo.
